I'm sure he was trying to be helpful but I've just discovered that before he went to bed nearly two hours ago Robin turned off the cooker. So the Christmas puddings that I thought were simmering nicely weren't. Bother, bother, bother, bother, bother. Unparliamentary language!!!

Now I've got to work out whether I should try to boil them again tomorrow or hope they are OK as is.

Oh no! Sorry I can't help as I know nothing about Christmas puddings...I sure hope that you can get them sorted out. (My DH dried all my son's clothes on high in the drier...causing shrinkage...not near a catastrophe as ruined puddings though.) Gotta love those helpful husbands.... (and I am assuming Robin is your DH?)

I decided in the end that to be on the safe side I would boil them again the following night. I don't know if you've ever encountered English style Christmas pudding. It's a suet pudding with lots of currants and raisins - very rich and dark.

Yes Robin is my DH. He's never shrunk anything in the drier but has managed it in the washing machine. The classic one of looking at some shirts and thinking they were cotton so they should wash on a hot wash and not bothering to read the instruction labels which said "cold"! Those three shirts came out just the right size for his then 11 year old nephew.
