I meant to post this 10 days ago but....

It seems impossible but Theo is now 1! We had a nice gathering of our friends here on the day after his birthday. He's not quite walking independantly but can walk pretty well with something to push.

My mum's visiting for three weeks, which is a mixed blessing. It is good to have her here and I'm pleased that Theo gets a chance to get to know her again but it's also hard work. Somehow she manages to put me on the defensive very easily.

Bad Mummy

OK, so I think I win today's "bad mummy" contest. At 10:30 whilst standing in the bank in the next town (25 min drive away) I realise that I haven't actually changed Theo's nappy since we got up this morning. This means he had the same nappy on for over 12 hours. BIG OOPS!

So on top of everything else I'm trying to deal with, Theo now has some sort of vomitting/diarrhea thing and an ear infection (which may or may not be causing the vomitting/diarrhea) on top of his cold which just doesn't seem to want to go away.

T and I were supposed to drive to Cardiff today to spend the night with Cariad, who I was at uni with and was my bridesmaid. She now has an 18 month old daughter I haven't even met!

And tomorrow we're supposed to go to Bristol for a Guide training weekend. Goodness knows if we'll get there.

Robin's plans for this evening had involved the shower room and tiles, not trips to out-of-hours doctor services!

We escaped. And when I'm slightly less brain dead I'll try to post about the whole experience.

Poorly baby

OK so I'm not very good at posting but I usually manage to check my friends page at least daily. This week however everything has gone to pot. This will explain to [livejournal.com profile] gwendraith why I wasn't in Ely

Last weekend Theo got a cold. Well that's something small children do. On Tuesday afternoon he was very sleepy and seemed to be having some difficulty breathing and then I realised that his temperature was sky high. Like 40.1C. So I rang NHS Direct for advice, who sent an ambulance out. The paramedics spent about an hour here but by that time Theo seemed fine again so they went off. Within a couple of hours T's temp was back up to 40.4 so DH and I took T to hospital. T got admitted while they checked him out for pneumonia, infections etc. T is still in hospital, his temp is still all over the place. Last night the doctors decided to start him on IV antibiotics and that they had better check for meningitis before doing so.

T seems somewhat better today, although very sleepy poor baby.

DH is with him atm and I've taken a short break to come home and sort out the post and stuff and just to get out of the hospital for a while!

Looks like we'll be at the hospital for a while yet.
